apparently this is a thing in Japan too, and it gets translated as “Mundane Halloween.” There are so photos online and they’re all so good?????
“Person going to work on a windy day"
“Woman who’s having her bang cut but the hairdresser is nowhere to be found"
“Zookeeper in charge of the pandas”
Here are two more:
“Not pregnant lady when someone yield seat to her on subway”
And my favorite
“Person on thermal infrared camera”
Might share more tomorrow.
Influencers taking selfies at a gym
Starbucks barista working her ass off on Halloween but gotta keep up that smile
Person who sits on wet paint
Person who’s still loading
Boyfriend carrying girlfriend’s shopping bags
I love these so much
“there is no way you’re not using chatgpt for at least a few things here and there no matter your stance on it” what the FUCK are you talking about
genuinely do NOT want the world to see me because i don’t think that they’d understand
Me: Fuck, the paper towels I want are on the top shelf.
The Sir David Attenborough That Lives In My Brain: Being smaller-than-average presents an added challenge to foraging … but necessity is the mother of invention. A little creativity turns a baguette into a tool, and voilà–
(paper towel roll falls on my face)
Sir David Attenborough, pleasantly: Success.
Me, 3am: But am I even deserving of love
The Steve Irwin That Lives In My Brain: Crikey, get a look at this art teacher! These are so important to the local area, right, because they create habitat for heaps of vulnerable critters like juvenile nerds, goths, and furries. I love finding these because they often have these great ornamentations that they can use to identify one another. Take a look at the piercings and tattoos, here. Absolutely gorgeous! Let’s let this one get back to sleep.
one of the deans in beijing dance academy rehearses with students
#he’s so good damn#obvs he doesn’t have the same athleticism as the students#but he’s so much more in control of his body#he moves much more self assuredly#and doesn’t exaggerate the way the more inexperienced ones do#he knows exactly what to do and how to do it naturally#wow
Oh so that’s what books mean when they talk about seeing a swordperson or a martial artist move and immediately knowing you’re fucked. If I saw someone handle a weapon or switch martial art stances that smoothly and with that economy of motion, I would immediately know I was going to die.
And in his DRESS SHOES.
One of my favorite things in the whole world will always be watching someone do something they’re an expert in.
i was going to say i miss the first series where characters like clarisse, zoe, ethan, silena, and of course luke and annabeth were very prominent and had absolutely no powers. they had magic objects, traits from their parents, special talents, but not superpowers. as much fun as it can be to speculate about what characters are capable of and to powerscale them, it didn’t have to be the norm in the series. however, the actual problem, and difference between the first series and all of the sequels, is that the characters all had a narrative purpose in pjo, and a reason to exist in the specific book they were in. each character, major or minor, had a plotline that served the broader narrative. rick didn’t have to invent plot points to give each and every individual character a chance to learn a lesson and save the day using their special powers until mark of athena, when you can see the wheels begin to fall off the train and the first brick get launched at jason grace to resolve the question “why doesn’t jason just fly away from this angry mob?”
i see thalia get ragged on sometimes for being the “least powerful” of the big 3 kids. if you look at the list of what each big 3 kid is capable of, this is true! (besides bianca rip my queen) and yet thalia’s fight with percy is one of the most loaded, tense confrontations between two demigods in the series. they have only just begun to get to know each other, but the weight of what they are to each other, of what the other’s existence means for them, the horrible fate one of them will meet, the evil choice one will be called to make, and having no way of knowing who it will be, and, and, and. is percy more powerful than thalia? based on the rest of the series, yes, but it couldn’t matter less in this fight. he was dreaming of her before they met. he was holding someone destined to be his best friend or worst enemy. while percy and jason’s fight made a great book cover, it was ultimately about nothing more serious than one being blonde and one being brunette.
